Abstract

This study aimed to identify the level of technology use in refereeing from the point of view of volleyball referees in Jordan, and to identify the level of technology use in refereeing volleyball in Jordan according to the variable (experience, educational qualification, degree of refereeing). The descriptive approach was used, and the study sample included (25) referee that were chosen intentionally. A questionnaire was designed as a tool for this study, consisting of (24) items distributed over three domains, each field included 8 items, and the domains are: (the availability of technology techniques, the importance of technology techniques, the preparation and qualification of referees). The results concluded that the level of technology use in refereeing from the point of view of volleyball referees in Jordan was average at the overall level of the study tool with an arithmetic average of (1.66). As for the fields of study, the second field came first (the importance of technology techniques in arbitration) with a medium degree and an arithmetic average(2.35), and the second field(preparation and qualification of referees)came in a low degree and an arithmetic average(1.49), and finally came third the first field(availability Arbitration techniques) with a low degree and an arithmetic mean(1.13). The results also indicated that there were no statistically significant differences at the significance level(α≤0.05) due to the educational qualification variable. It was also found that there were statistically significant differences at the significance level (α≤0.05) according to the variables of experience, the degree of arbitration and in favor of 10 years or more and the international referees, respectively. The researcher recommended the necessity of urging the Jordan Volleyball Federation to introduce technological techniques in the field of refereeing the game, especially what is commensurate with the less expensive financial capabilities such as electronic registration, tablets and wireless communication devices.
