Foundations of Islamic Guidance for Science: A Descriptive and Critical Study of some Researchers' Writings in this Field

Abstract

This study aimed to address the foundations of Islamic guidance for sciences and provide a descriptive and critical view of the writings of some researchers in the field. To achieve such a goal, the descriptive approach was used, and the study consisted of a general framework that included: the study’s introduction, problem, questions, objectives, importance and approach, as well as the presentation and commentary on the most prominent previous studies, then two main dimensions. The first dimension included the theoretical framework tackling the objectives of Islamic guidance for sciences, the foundations upon which Islamic guidance is based, standards for Islamic guidance for sciences, procedures, and steps for Islamic guidance for sciences. The second dimension included analysis and criticism of what was reported by some writers and authors about the foundations of Islamic guidance for sciences. The third dimension addressed a general summary of the foundations of Islamic guidance for sciences as mentioned in previous research and literature. The fourth dimension addressed the researcher’s viewpoint on the foundations of Islamic guidance for sciences that were mentioned in the writings of researchers in the field.
