Using of social networking sites as Predictor of Identity Crisis and social isolation among high school students in light of some variables

Abstract

Current study aims to reveal the relationship between the Duration of use of social networking sites , the identity crisis and social isolation in the Egyptian and Saudi societies. The sample consisted of (498) secondary school students, including (295) from Egyptian society and (203) from Saudi society. The researcher used identity rank scale, and used social isolation scale. The results were found:- There is a positive correlation between the Duration of use of the social networking sites, and social isolation, identity closure and diffusion, and there is negative correlation between it and identity achievement. There is no significant correlation between it and the overall degree of identity moratorium in both Egyptian and Saudi societies.  - The Duration of use of the social networking sites predicts social isolation, identity closure and identity diffusion in both the Egyptian and Saudi societies.  -There are differences in social isolation and identity crisis dimensions according to nationality and the used social networking sites. And there are no significant differences according to gender.
