Abstract

The aim of the research is to know the contemporary trends and mechanisms in the management of intellectual capital as an entrance to the transformation towards a productive university, to achieve this aim we identified the concept of intellectual capital, explored its importance, characteristics, measurement, management, and the nature of the productive university. The study justified shifting towards the research intellectual capital, The study used the descriptive approach to achieve its aims. The presentation and analysis resulted in a set of trends and mechanisms through which intellectual capital can be managed in universities, this proved to help the shift towards a productive university, including: managing human capital, which is represented in: attracting, developing, and maintaining it; Structural capital management, represented in the development of systems, regulations and organizational culture; And finally, managing the capital of relationships, which is represented in: achieving the satisfaction of the beneficiaries, activating the partnership with local and international community institutions, and serving the community.
