Developing colleges of technology in Egypt in light of the requirements of the entrepreneurial university

Abstract

The current research aims to develop the entrepreneurial practices of colleges of technology in light of the requirements of the University of Entrepreneurship. by reviewing the conceptual frameworks of the University of Entrepreneurship,the requirements for the transformation of universities/colleges into entrepreneurship, and standing on the current entrepreneurial reality of colleges of technology.To achieve the objectives of the research, the descriptive approach was used, which depends on collecting information, data and facts about the phenomenon under study.The study found a set of requirements necessary to develop the entrepreneurial practices of colleges of technology and transform them into entrepreneurial colleges. These requirements are as follows: legislative requirements; These include: developing adequate legislation to support decentralization in the process of making and taking decisions in colleges of technology, responsibility for making strategies and action plans, and giving them all the powers necessary to conclude contracts and agreements for the transfer and marketing of technology. Academic requirements: Providing purposeful and diverse educational experiences related to the labor market and of high quality in accordance with the best international practices, developing a scientific research system in colleges of technology, activating partnerships with production and service institutions, and cooperating with local, regional and global pioneering universities/technological colleges to benefit from them and exchanging scientific, academic and research experiences among them.Organizational requirements: Updating the current organizational structure of colleges of technology to include supportive units for entrepreneurial activities such as entrepreneurship centers - Business Incubators - technology transfer and marketing units. Human requirements: the availability of faculty members who have an interest in their academic disciplines, in addition to their interest in the commercial applications of technology, and engaging in entrepreneurial activities, especially those related to various disciplines, physical requirements: securing the financial sustainability of colleges of technology to modernize their infrastructure, including educational buildings, workshops, laboratories, technological equipment and others.
