Information Literacy and a proposed Islamic educational vision for its development among students of the College of Education to support their lifelong learning

Abstract

This study sought to analyze the reality of information literacy among students of the Faculty of Education in Dakahlia, Al-Azhar University, to identify the availability of information Literacy skills for them, and their ability to identify their information needs and the difficulties they face when searching for information, to identify weaknesses and present a proposed Islamic educational vision for skills development. They have an information literacy to support lifelong learning, relying on the descriptive analytical approach to collect and tabulate data, and to process and analyze the information collected from the study sample population using the questionnaire as a data collection tool. The study showed weak skills to determine the degree of importance of information among students, and poor knowledge of the criteria for selecting their sources of information, The study also showed that students face many difficulties in obtaining information. The study presented a proposed vision from the Islamic educational perspective to develop the information literacy among students to support lifelong learning.
