Self-determination skills and their relationship to academic self-concept and quality of life for students of the second cycle of basic education

Abstract

The aim of the research is to study the relationship between self-determination skills, academic self-concept and quality of life for students of the second cycle of basic education, in addition to identifying the differences between the participants in the research on the research variables according to gender (males - females), and cultural background (rural - urban). To achieve the previous goals, the researchers used the following measures: (self-determination skills, academic self-concept, and quality of life). Those tools were applied to a sample of students of the second cycle of basic education, consisting of (520) male and female students, ranging in age from 12-13 years. Basic education, and the results revealed that there were statistically significant differences between groups on the scale of self-determination skills in favor of male students, and statistically significant differences were found between rural and urban students on the scale of self-determination skills in favor of rural students.
