Abstract

The current study aimed at proposing a model for digital literacy skills based on the necessary skills needed for student teachers and available models for teaching the 12st century skills so as to enable them to do their future professional roles according to the future requirements. Such skills also can be used and applied The current study aimed at identifying digital literacy skills and based on which student teachers, as well, identify their needs.  Digital literacy skills enable learners to perform their future professional roles according to the requirements of the 21st century. Such skills can also be used and applied in the teaching and learning processes. To meet the research purpose, the descriptive approach was used as an appropriate approach to determine the most important skills that must be included in teacher education programs utilizing a questionnaire for the needs of digital literacy skills designed by the researcher. Student teachers were asked to determine their needs based on these skills among different majors. Experts' opinions were also surveyed to to identify the potential ways to include these needs in teacher education programs. The results yielded a list of necessary needs for student teachers. Finally, the proposed model was designed based on the different available models and the nature of those skills.
