Abstract

This study aimed to identify the factors that lead to “child labor” and their correlation with social delinquency from the perspective of school students in Jerusalem. To achieve the objectives of the study, a questionnaire of three dimensions was prepared, and the study was administered to a stratified random sample that included 200 employed and unemployed students. The study followed the analytical descriptive approach to collect the study, compare and analyze data.  The study found that the research sample responses to economic factors that lead to child labor were too high and the rates of social and cultural factors were also high, whereas the political factors’ rates were moderate, and the research sample responses of children to social delinquency were too high.  Accordingly, the study has resulted in a set of recommendations, the most important which was to spread community awareness and to introduce the phenomenon of child labor and its risks to children, families and society in order to limit its negative impact as much as possible. Also, the study recommended constructing training centers for working children to train them in a trade or skill in certain hours.
