Obstacles to Teaching Mathematics in Light of Distance Learning from the Viewpoint of Teachers in the Southern Mazar District in Jordan

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the obstacles to teaching mathematics in light of distance learning from the teachers' point of view in the Southern Mazar District in Jordan, and the differences between the sample's views on the obstacles to teaching mathematics in terms of gender, academic qualification and experience. The researcher used the descriptive approach to suit the objectives of this study. The sample of the study consisted of (112) male and female teachers, who were randomly selected. The researcher used a questionnaire developed for attaining the purposes of this study, and the study was administered in the (2020/2021) academic year. The results showed that the obstacles itentified by the study affect the teaching of mathematics greatly, with a mean of (3.80) and a standard deviation of (0.29). The resulted of the study revealed that there are statistically significant differences among the opinions of the study sample due to the variables of gender, academic qualification and experience. The study recommended developing educational platforms and technological tools commensurate with teaching mathematics and holding training courses for mathematics teachers to improve technological competencies, which guarantee better learning under the current circumstances.
