Abstract

The study aimed to identify the most prominent threats to social media tools on marital relations in the Palestinian society from the viewpoint of the spouses during the period (2008-2018). To achieve the objectives of the study, the social survey methodology was adopted in the sample, and the questionnaire was adopted as a main tool for collecting data after verifying its validity and consistency, They were applied to a sample of (1228) respondents, and they were chosen In the cluster random sampling method. The study reached a set of results: Social media tools have a great role in influencing marital relationships, as the gap between spouses increases, and Reduces of facial interaction and the exchange of feelings and love between spouses. These tools made it possible for one or both spouses to search for lack of feelings and harmony through the virtual world and provided opportunities for marital infidelity, and increased rates of divorce or emotional divorce. and it contributed to the high rates and diversity of electronic crimes, which usually ends with thus lead to family disintegration. This study adopted a set of recommendations: that husbands set limits and controls for using social media tools at home. The Higher Education Council adopts courses or academic requirements concerned with educating students about the positives and risks of social media tools and the mechanism for their safe use. Media institutions should create programs to educate community members about the dangers of negative use of social media tools.
