في ظل تفاقم مشکلات البيئة، برزت الاستدامة البيئية کهدف حيوي ينبغي أن تحققه الجامعات باعتبارها المحرک الرئيس لتنمية المجتمع في کافة المجالات، وکتحدٍ أکبر تواجهه الجامعة من أجل تحقيق التوازن بين مسؤولياتها وبين المحافظة على البيئة وعدم التأثير علي مواردها بشکل سلبي. ولقلة الدراسات التي ربطت بين مسؤوليات الجامعات والاستدامة البيئية من منظور إستراتيجي، استهدفت هذه الدراسة استقراء آراء قيادات الجامعات السعودية عن أهم المسؤوليات المناط بالجامعات السعودية القيام بها لتحقيق الاستدامة البيئية، والکشف عن واقع ممارسة الجامعات السعودية لمسؤولياتها نحو الاستدامة البيئية، ثم بناء إستراتيجية مقترحة لتعزيز المسؤوليات التربوية للجامعات السعودية نحو الاستدامة البيئية. واعتمدت هذه الدراسة الوصفية المسحية على أسلوب دلفاي الذي طُبق على عينة عمدية مکونة من (26) أستاذاً من القيادات لتحديد أهم المسؤوليات المناط بالجامعات السعودية القيام بها لتحقيق الاستدامة البيئية، واستبانة طُبقت على عينة صدفية مکونة من (181) من القيادات للکشف عن واقع ممارسة الجامعات لتلک المسؤوليات، کما اُستخدم مدخل SOAR لبناء الإستراتيجية المقترحة. وقد توصلت الدراسة إلى قائمة مکونة من (29) مسؤولية ينبغي أن تقوم بها الجامعات لتحقيق الاستدامة البيئية. کما کشفت الدراسة أن الجامعات السعودية تمارس مسؤولياتها نحو الاستدامة البيئية بدرجة متوسطة تميل إلى الضعف. وفي ضوء تصورات وآراء القيادات، تم اقتراح إستراتيجية يسهم تطبيقها في تعزيز مسؤولية الجامعات السعودية للتحول نحو الاستدامة البيئية.
In light of the aggravation of environmental problems, environmental sustainability has emerged as a vital goal that universities should achieve as they are the main factor for the development of society in all fields. Due to the lack of studies that linked universities responsibilities with environmental sustainability from a strategic perspective, this study aimed to extrapolate the perspectives of Saudi university leaders about the most important responsibilities that Saudi universities are to achieve, and to reveal the staus-quo of Saudi universities practice of their responsibilities towards environmental sustainability, then develop a proposed strategy to enhance educational responsibilities for Saudi universities towards environmental sustainability. This survey descriptive study was based on the Delphi technique applied on a purposive sample consisting of (26) professors from the leaders to determine the most important responsibilities that Saudi universities are to achieve for environmental sustainability. Furhtemore, a questionnaire was administered on random sample of 181 leaders to reveal the status-quo of universities practice of those responsibilities. The SOAR approach was also used to build the proposed strategy. The study depicted a list of (29) responsibilities that universities should carry out to achieve the environmental sustainability. The study also revealed that the Saudi universities practise their responsibilities towards environmental sustainability with a moderate degree that tends to be weak. In light of the leaders' perceptions and perspectives, a strategy was proposed which its implementation would contribute to enhancing the responsibility of Saudi universities to shift towards environmental sustainability.
