هدفت الدراسة الحالية إلى التعرف على مستوى التکيّف الأکاديمي لدى عينة من طلبة الطب البشري في جامعة الخليج العربي، بالإضافة إلى التعرف على بعض العوامل والمتغيرات التي يمکن ان تؤثر على درجة تکيف الطلبة أکاديمياً، ولتحقيق أهداف الدراسة الحالية تم استخدام مقياس هنري بورو(Henry Borow) للتکيف الأکاديمي والذي يتکون من (52) فقرة. وبعد التأکد من ان المقياس بصورته النهائية يمتاز بدلالات صدق وثبات مناسبة لأغراض الدراسة الحالية، تم تطبيقه على عينة بلغ عددها (169) طالباً وطالبة من طلبة الطب للسنة الدراسية الأولى تم اختيارهم عشوائياً. وللإجابة عن أسئلة الدراسة تم استخدام المتوسطات الحسابية والانحرافات المعيارية، بالإضافة إلى استخدام اختبار (ت) للعينات المستقلة، واختبار تحليل التباين الأحادي. وأشارت النتائج إلى أن مستوى التکيّف الأکاديمي لدى الطلبة جاءت بدرجة متوسطة، کما أشارت النتائج إلى عدم وجود اختلاف دال إحصائياً عند مستوى (£ 0.05α) بين متوسط درجة التکيّف الأکاديمي لدى الطلبة باختلاف جنس الطالب، بالإضافة إلى عدم وجود اختلاف دال إحصائياً عند مستوى (£ 0.05α) بين متوسط درجة التکيّف الأکاديمي لدى الطلبة باختلاف جنسية الطالب. وفي ضوء ما توصلت إليه الدراسة الحالية من نتائج فإنه يوصي بضرورة إجراء مزيدا من الدراسات تتعلق بدرجة التکيّف الأکاديمي وعلاقة ببعض المتغيرات کالضغوط النفسية ونمط شخصية الطالب.
The aim of this study was to explore the level of academic adaptation among medical students at the Arabian Gulf University and the factors that affect it. For this goal, we used Henry Borow`s scale for academic adaptation which is composed of 52 items. Prior to actual data collection, the scale validity and reliability were checked. Our sample was comprised of (169) year one students who were randomly selected from the College of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Arabian Gulf University, in Bahrain. Collected data was analyzed by using standard deviation, independent sample t-test and one way ANOVA. Our results showed that the level of academic adaptation among medical students was moderate. No statistically significant effects were reported between student`s academic adaptation and gender or nationality. Based on this data, we recommend that more research is needed to study possible correlation between academic adaptation and other factors such as psychological stress, student`s personality among others.
