Abstract

The current research aimed to identify the effectiveness of using the modeling strategy in developing some hand-weaving skills among second-year Preparatory school students. To achieve the goal, the researcher built research tools that were represented in a list of skills related to the field of hand-weaving. In light of these skills, an achievement test and an observation card were built to measure the performance of the research sample students in hand-weaving skills. The experimental treatment materials were represented in a teacher's guide explaining the steps of the modeling strategy procedures, and the role of both the teacher and the learner in implementing them, and a learner's book containing a set of lessons and activities related to developing hand-weaving skills according to the steps and stages of the modeling strategy. The research sample consisted of (30) second-year Preparatory school students, who were divided into two groups, one experimental (15) students, and the other control (15) students. The researcher used the experimental method to reach the results that showed a statistically significant difference at the level of (0.05) between the average scores of the students of the experimental and control groups in the post-application of the achievement test and the observation card in favor of the experimental group, which indicates the effectiveness of the modeling strategy in developing hand-weaving skills among the research sample students. The researcher recommended that it is important to take care of development practical skills related to the rest of art fields and to the other educational stages and using the proper teaching strategies for that.
