Abstract

The aim of this research is to measure the effectiveness of educational activities according to the “ARCS” model in enhancing motivation to learn the Teaching Methods course among fourth-year students in the Home Economics Department at the Faculty of Specific Education, Ain Shams University. The researcher adopted a quasi-experimental design with a single group, applying study tools both pre- and post-intervention on a sample consisting of 60 male and female students from the fourth year of the Home Economics Department at the Faculty of Specific Education, Ain Shams University. The research tool included a motivation scale designed to measure the effectiveness of educational activities according to the “ARCS” model in enhancing motivation to learn the Teaching Methods course among students at the Faculty of Specific Education. The results indicated statistically significant differences in students’ average scores on the motivation scale in favor of the post-application. Furthermore, the effectiveness of educational activities according to the “ARCS” model in enhancing motivation to learn teaching methods among students at the Faculty of Specific Education reached a statistically significant level according to Black’s adjusted gain formula. The research recommends utilizing elements of motivational design “ARCS” in other academic courses, as well as benefiting from the learning motivation scale developed in this study and applying it in similar studies. Additionally, it suggests preparing training courses for educators that clarify how to design and use motivational design models in various academic courses to develop different skills that align with learners’ characteristics.
