Borderline Personality Disorder and its Relationship to Introversion and Shyness among High School Students in Kuwait

Abstract

The current research aims at the following:
Identify the nature of the relationship between borderline personality disorder, introversion and shyness among secondary school students in Kuwait. It also aims to identify the prevalence of borderline personality disorders among secondary school students in Kuwait. The research methodology was represented in the descriptive correlational approach, and to achieve the objectives of the research, the researchers prepared the research tools represented in the borderline personality disorder scale, the introversion scale and the shyness scale for secondary school students in Kuwait and the scales were applied to a sample of (100) male and female secondary school students in Kuwait, and the researchers reached the following results: There are positive correlations statistically significant (at the level of 0.01 or the level of 0.05) between:  The degrees of the sample on the first dimension of the dimensions of introversion (poor social interaction), and their scores on the scale of borderline personality disorders (all dimensions, and disorders as a whole), except for the ninth dimension, where the correlation coefficient with the degrees of this dimension is statistically significant.
