The world is currently witnessing a rapid digital transformation in all fields, including higher and university education institutions. This transformation has produced many opportunities, and in return, it has resulted in many risks/risks. Such as security risks, related to data protection and privacy, legal risks, which are related to intellectual property rights, technical risks related to the quality of the infrastructure and digital systems used, and social risks, such as the possibility of a digital gap occurring between university employees, as a result of their weak possession of the necessary digital skills, which threatens the continuity and quality of education. And it limits the university’s ability to achieve competitive advantage. From this standpoint, comes the importance of the current research paper, which seeks to identify these risks and the role of academic leaders in Egyptian universities in managing them, as well as identifying the best international practices in this field, specifically the practices of Purdue University.
