University life stressors according to international students’ attitudes towards internationalization of education in Al Azhar university

Abstract

The current study investigated the impact of interaction between students’ attitude towards internationalization of education (positive- negative), cultural background (African-Asians), gender (males-females) and dimensions of university life stressors. Participants of the study were 100 international students between 20-24 years of age (mean age21.5 =Standard deviation 1.86). University life stressors scale and students’ attitudes towards internationalization of education scale were prepared and administered by the researchers. Study results showed no differences in dimensions of university life stressors and total score in terms of students’ attitudes towards internationalization of education (positive- negative). There were statistically significant differences in dimensions of university life stressors (financial and academic) and total score according to cultural background (African - Asian) in favor of Asian students. However, there were no statistically significant differences in dimensions of university life stressors (social and cultural) according to cultural background (African - Asian). There were statistically significant gender differences (males- females) in dimensions of university life stressors and total score in favor of males.
