The field of foundations of education represents the philosophical foundations, educational principles, and theoretical bases on which the educational policy system and its operations are based. To develop this field and to benefit its researchers and specialists, this study aimed to: analyze the reality of the intellectual and methodological structure of postgraduate students in the foundations of education field, and evaluate this reality in light of the systemic model, as well as presenting a proposed vision for developing the system of cognitive structure of postgraduate students in the major of foundations of education. Through the documentary and comparative analysis of the postgraduate educational studies regulations and plans in five colleges of education at universities of: Al-Azhar in Cairo, Ain Shams, Mansoura, Zagazig, and Assiut, the study reached several results, including: the weak contribution of these plans to the intellectual and methodological structure of postgraduate students in the foundations of education, and the unavailability of the systemic model standards in postgraduate programs of the foundations of education. Besides, the description of study plans in most educational programs are devoid of the intellectual and methodological structure courses necessary to the educational specialist in accordance with contemporary trends. The study suggested a set of considerations to be taken into account when developing a systemic model aiming at developing the intellectual and methodological structure of postgraduate students in education. The study recommended the necessity of combining educational specializations to achieve the integration of the cognitive structure and to employ interdisciplinarity in solving societal problems.
