Abstract
The research aimed to formulate theoretical content about the teacher’s professional competencies, classify the teacher’s professional competencies in light of a changing world, in light of contemporary educational theories, identify the sources of those competencies, and identify the most important modern educational theories. The research followed the descriptive approach. The research was presented in the form of axes. The first axis dealt with developing a general framework for the research, while the second axis dealt with developing a theoretical framework for the research that dealt with its variables in explanation and detail (professional competencies of teachers, preparing the teacher for a changing world, and the most important modern educational theories),
Then the third axis dealt with the results. What was reached was: a classification of the professional competencies necessary to prepare teachers in a changing world according to modern educational theories, and was represented in eight types of competencies: (Planning competencies, implementation competencies, evaluation competencies, cognitive competencies, skill competencies, emotional competencies, professional competencies, and technological competencies). The research also found that the sources for derivation of the teacher’s professional competencies were: (modern educational theories, examination of academic curricula, lists of competencies preparation, surveying the opinions of workers in the educational field, assessing teachers’ needs, describing and classifying teaching jobs), and in light of these results, a set of recommendations and proposals were presented.
